Small Fawn And Doe Original Batik
After my experience with the stag I learnt everything I could about these wonderous animals and told everyone that would listen what I found out. The most precious thing was learning that a fawn is born odourless. They have no odour for the first few days so predators can't smell them. This is because the doe leaves her fawn for long periods of time to graze and the spots on the coat help to camouflage the fawn when it's lying on the forest floor. After a few days when the fawn is stronger it gets it's own distinct smell.
Fast forward 32 years and this summer as I was looking onto the vacant hills in front of our house, I seen a stag, I couldn't believe it. It was just like I remembered all those years ago and once again I was frozen with awe and couldn't look away. My eyes focused in hard to soak up every detail and over to the right was a little fawn and doe to complete the family. With no boundaries, no owners just living in the now.
These two batiks would look fabulous together and make the family complete.
