Sitting on a free spirited horse is an experience you never forget. The feeling of the bubbling power beneath you, the horse dancing on the spot, the strength and contraction of the muscles in the neck in front of you, the addictive sweet musty perfume that blows through the mane and over the muscular body of a horse glistening with sweat. The soft ear turns sharply back listening intently on the riders aid ready to be released like a sling shot...GO!
The energy sinks down in the hindquarters before it is released and the horse takes over without hesitation. It knows it's free, to run as fast as it can as far as the horizon or to chase the setting sun. All the senses are intensified, yet time slows down. The wind blowing past the riders ears eliminates the worldly thoughts and the mix of wind and warm evening sun hitting the riders face feel like kisses from heaven. The two become one for that short time, nothing else exists, nothing seems impossible and the peace that enters the soul through the ears of a horse is renewed.
The horse slows to a stop at the top of the hill knowingly and blows out loud. The echo through the valley touches every surface that the eyes can see. They've reached their favourite spot and silently smile together as they look over the land in wonder.
This piece was created from my most precious memory and as it hangs on the wall it's my hope that the viewer can not only feel these emotions but also take some of this power, endurance and heart with them to ride fearlessly into new directions to awaken and discover their own freedom and power.
This is a print of the original that was created in a unique rustic non traditional batik style using a mixture of bees wax and a few other secret tools and ingredients from natures art supply store!
